Gumamela
Gumamela (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Linn)
The gumamela flower comes in many colors: the most common is red, pink, white, yellow, orange, purple and other color combination.
This ornamental plant can be in single petals or in double. My father planted this around our house in the Philippines, it serves as a fench. He always keeps it neat, he trims it. Evey summer, it blossoms especially in May, the time of flower celebration. The children love to pick the flowers and offer to the chapel or it will be cut into a small pieces for "Adios" (that's what we call it in our place). We sang 'Adios Reyna sa Langit' then we showered the cut flowers on the altar. I really miss this celebration !
I took some snaps of gumamela flowers last week.....
Its me...signing off...
